Corrosion in Space

چکیده
The corrosion in space is described by the effect of atomic oxygen on several materials. The metal which was most affected is silver. Silver oxidises according to a linear-parabolic law and due to the thermal stresses the oxide layer continuously breaks up, resulting in a linear degradation. Atomic oxygen not only attacks materials in the line of sight of the ram flux, but also by reflected atomic oxygen. Many materials form an adherent oxide layer, such as Cu, Al and stainless steel and are as such protected once this oxide layer is formed. Some materials have a volatile oxide such as Osmium and many polymers materials. They show a linear behaviour.

متن کاملEffects of coating thickness on corrosion and contact resistance behavior of TiN coated AISI 316L as bipolar plates for PEMFC
In the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), low corrosion resistance and high interfacial contact resistance (ICR) are two controversial issues in usage of AISI 316L stainless steel as a metallic bipolar plate. For solving these problems, investigation and development of different coatings and/or surface treatments are inevitable. Corrosion behavior and ICR of AISI 316L specimens c...
متن کامل08398 - Detection of Corrosion of Post-tensioned Strands in Grouted Assemblies
The feasibility and sensitivity of electrochemical noise (EN), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and linear polarization resistance (LPR) for detection of corrosion in post-tensioning (PT) components was investigated. The use of the electrical resistance (ER) technique, as well EIS and LPR, to detect air space corrosion at the grout voids was also explored. The results showed that h...

Many parameters are influenced by the diffusion of chloride on concrete in marine environments and these can affect concrete quality. In this study, the effect of water to cement ratio of 0.35, 0.40 and 0.45 on corrosion resistance and compressive strength of reinforced concrete was evaluated. Moreover, different percentages of micro silica (SiO2) including 5, 7.5 and 10% were utilized, in orde...
متن کاملCorrosion-Induced Concrete Cracking Model Considering Corrosion-Filled Paste
A TCP–TCL model is established to describe the relationship between the thickness of the corrosion-filled paste (CP) and that of the corrosion layer (CL). This model can describe the phenomenon that the corrosion filling in the concrete pores and accumulating at the steel/concrete interface occur synchronously. Based on the TCP–TCL model, a corrosion-induced concrete cracking model, which can q...
